Overview

Ammoudi Beach is a peaceful, pebbly beach located around 1.5 km east of Chora Sfakion, on the southern coast of Crete. Despite the name "Ammoudi," meaning "sandy," the beach features small pebbles and rugged rock formations, creating a natural and unspoiled setting. The beach is accessible via a rough dirt road, making it less crowded and a perfect spot for those seeking solitude. It’s known for its crystal-clear waters, ideal for swimming and snorkeling. To the west of Ammoudi Beach lies a cave called "Fokia," which once served as a nesting site for Mediterranean monk seals. Above the beach, there is a small chapel dedicated to Saint Haralambos, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape. While not officially a nudist beach, it is occasionally frequented by naturists, thanks to its secluded nature. The combination of natural beauty, peaceful atmosphere, and accessibility makes Ammoudi Beach a hidden gem for visitors to Chora Sfakion.
