The Gorge of the Dead (or Zakros Gorge) is one of the most stunning gorges in eastern Crete, connecting Zakros with Kato Zakros. It gets its name from the ancient Minoans, who used the caves in the steep cliffs as burial sites.\n\rThe hike through the gorge is relatively easy, taking about 2-3 hours, and offers breathtaking landscapes with towering cliffs, lush vegetation, and wild beauty. At the end of the trail, visitors arrive at Kato Zakros Beach, where they can relax and explore the archaeological site of the Minoan Palace.
