Pelekita Cave
Overview
Pelekita Cave is located near Kato Zakros in southeastern Crete and is one of the island’s largest yet lesser-known caves. It extends approximately 310 meters and features impressive stalactites, stalagmites, and large chambers.\n\rThe cave holds archaeological significance, as evidence of human activity from the Neolithic period has been discovered inside. It is also near an ancient quarry where the Minoans extracted stone for constructing the Palace of Zakros.Access to the cave is via a coastal hiking trail from Kato Zakros, offering breathtaking views of the Libyan Sea.
