White Lake Beach
Overview
White Lake Beach, locally known as Aspri Limni, is a hidden gem situated approximately 500 meters west of the Monastery of Chrysoskalitissa on Crete’s southwestern coast. \n\rThis secluded beach features fine white sand and is encircled by smooth rocks, creating the illusion of a serene white lake nestled within the sea. The crystal-clear, shallow waters and tranquil atmosphere make it an ideal spot for relaxation and snorkeling.\n\rDespite its proximity to the popular Elafonissi Beach, White Lake remains largely untouched by tourism, offering a peaceful retreat away from the crowds. The beach is part of a protected Natura 2000 area, home to the rare Phoenix theophrasti palm trees, adding ecological significance to its natural beauty. Visitors should note that there are no facilities or natural shade, so it's advisable to bring essentials like water, snacks, and sun protection. \n\rAccess is via a dirt track from Chrysoskalitissa village, and the journey itself offers scenic views of the rugged Cretan landscape
